The administration fee is non-refundable. Other fees may be refundable depending on the circumstances, including visa outcomes and timing of withdrawal.

Full details of refund conditions, including non-refundable fees, notice periods, and how refunds are calculated, are outlined in our Fee Refund Policy:

https://mauku.schooldocs.co.nz/

International students attending Mauku School will usually live with a parent or legal guardian in New Zealand.

For students aged 10 years and over, Mauku School may arrange approved homestay accommodation. All homestay families are carefully selected, police-vetted, and monitored by the school to ensure they provide a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.

Students participating in short-term programmes or study tours may also stay in homestay accommodation organised by the school.

All accommodation arrangements are managed in accordance with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.

Insurance Requirements

All international students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand.

This insurance must cover:

● Medical care, including diagnosis, prescriptions, and hospitalisation

● Repatriation and return travel

● Travel costs for family members in the case of serious illness or injury ● Death and funeral expenses

Visas & Immigration

International students must hold a valid visa to study in New Zealand.

Full details of visa requirements, rights to work, and immigration processes are available from Immigration New Zealand:

https://www.immigration.govt.nz/

Health Services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand.

For information about eligibility, please visit:

https://www.health.govt.nz/

New Zealand has an accident compensation scheme called ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation). ACC may cover the cost of treatment if a student is injured in an accident while in New Zealand.

However, ACC does not cover all medical costs, and it does not replace the need for comprehensive medical and travel insurance. This is why all international students are required to have appropriate insurance while studying in New Zealand.

All international students must have medical and travel insurance that covers medical treatment, hospitalisation, and other health-related costs.

Families can find local doctors, medical centres, and other healthcare providers through Healthpoint:

https://www.healthpoint.co.nz/

In an emergency, dial 111 for ambulance, police, or fire services.

Support & Pastoral Care

At Mauku School, we take pride in providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.

International students are supported through:

● Classroom integration with local students

● English language support where needed

● Ongoing pastoral care and wellbeing support

Mauku School ensures that international students and their families have access to 24/7 support in case of an emergency or urgent concern. Contact details are provided to students and families on arrival, and support is always available when needed.

Complaints & Concerns

We encourage students and families to raise any concerns with the school so we can work together to resolve them.

Internal Complaints Process

Mauku School has a clear and supportive process for managing concerns and complaints. Students and families can raise concerns with staff, and these will be addressed fairly and promptly.

External Support

If a concern cannot be resolved by the school, students and families can contact Study Complaints, an independent dispute resolution service:

https://www.studycomplaints.org.nz/

You can also contact NZQA:
